Making the Most of Online Typing Resources

While computer and tablet use has become part of our everyday lives, it takes a different level of skill (and practice) to produce the speed and precision that is required by employers in today’s tech driven labour market.

Luckily, there are hundreds of resources online that we can use to brush up on these skills in preparation for an interview or starting a new job.

With so many resources available, how do you know where to start?? We have tried and tested a few and think these are the top 2 to improve your typing skills.

The Typing Cat

This site is well laid out and provides users with free classes for all typing levels. Users can focus purely on speed and accuracy for beginners, or practice typing code in the Programmers section.

The Typing Cat also offers multi-lingual typing practice, and users can play interactive games such as the Rain Game.

A useful feature is the User Generated Courses section, where different users have designed custom courses to share. Here you’ll some handy little courses that mix it up a bit and keep things interesting.

Typing Club

Typing Club is a much larger site, and have partnered with Google to provide programs to schools. Its website boasts being used by 23 million students in over 50,000 schools (mainly in the US), but anyone can use the Get Started feature and use the site without creating an account.

The courses are made up of sharp and sharp lessons, and users are given feedback at the end of each one. Lessons gradually get harder and more involved, and the drip-fed feedback at the end of each class is interactive and fun.

Truth be told this site offers so much that it can almost feel a little overwhelming – stick with the Get Started feature and make your own way through the course.
